The first rule to making something sustainable? Build it to last. This short is built to endure the rigors of serious wear. We removed zippers, because they will inevitably fail. We made it out of our AFO-Vent fabric — a durable nylon that is lightweight yet tough, abrasion resistant, odor resistant and will retain its shape. We changed the drawcord to an infinity loop that will not get tugged out in the wash and we reinforced the pocket openings with 14 bar tacks.

Our AFO-Vent fabric is also bluesign® certified meaning it is free from harmful chemicals and is fabricated in a way that meets a high environmental standard.

Exactly what I was looking for. 4” is perfect. Better than I was expecting. The pockets and lining are incredible. At first I was disappointed black wasn’t an option. Now I wish more colors were available.

Trail Shorts Done Right

Been wearing the 7" Multi for about a year or so, and I thought those were great. These new 4" Multis are even better. Delete on the side pockets, but still more than enough storage, back to the brief liner and a regular drawstring to replace the infinity loop. Y'all did these shorts right. Couldn't ask for more, except maybe black...They are about to be my go to shorts!

Best Janji Shorts to date!

I have been wearing Janji shorts for over 6 years now with all different styles and materials - these are hands down my favorite for fast trail racing. The waist band is secure and has an extended liner that fits snug but without putting pressure. The generous side split allows for full range of motion and also allows for more air flow under the short which is great for releasing heat. The material drys quick. Best shorts!

Great pair of shorts

I prefer running in split shorts but was looking for something a little longer than the normal 2-3". These meet exactly what I was looking for. The storage is also great. The material is very lightweight. I do a lot of trail running and these will be perfect for those long summer days in the mountains. My only complaint is they run a bit small. Just a little tighter than expected around the waist. But they fit close enough to where I'd probably regret getting the next size up. I'd definitely buy another pair.

Amazing! As my friend would say: game changer!

These shorts are perfect for me! They fit so well! The waist sits nicely, briefs are comfortable, and the waistband has plenty of space (you can fit there more than essentials). The materials used are so breathable and lightweight that you can't feel them at all! No matter the pace, weather, or terrain you feel fast and light! Best trail running shorts you can possibly find on the market so far!

A different shorts experience...good and not so good.

I tend to prefer splits for my warm weather runs. I'm not that concerned what people think when I'm on a run, but I like the versatility of a more modest short that can go to the store or casual restaurant after a run.

The 4" Vent seemed a good option, and indeed if you don't move too aggressively it has a bit more coverage. The splits are pretty deep though (the photos are pretty accurate), so they actually seem more revealing to me than my AFO 3's with any sort of activity. The split also seems to be anchored in an odd place to me and the short didn't move the way I expected when in motion. That said, they do "vent" quite well which is appreciated when the temps come up, and the fabric is light and comfortable. The light material doesn't always settle down though - maybe too light? The liner is good - stretchy and supportive and cut correctly. The storage is odd to me. The double waistband (seen in other brand shorts too) does indeed hold things like a key(fob) with unexpected security, though intuitively it feels strange not to have a small zipper for "mental" security (there is a clip - but that doesn't work as well with a bulky fob). It's also not as easy (for me anyway) to quickly locate the storage though as you have to fish awkwardly between the two layers of waistband to find it, and those layers are pretty thin.

I've taken them on a few short runs, a half marathon, and a trail race or two and I'm growing used to some of the quirkyness of the design relative to my other shorts, but they're not entirely what I expected. Not bad and they're well made, but different than my expectations.
