FAQ

You've got questions and we're listening. Hopefully we have the answers below to what you are looking for, but if not, just email us at support@janji.com and we'll make sure to get right back to you.

When’s the last day to order for arrival before 12/25 (in the contiguous US)?

Order by December 17th at 8pm ET for standard USPS shipping and by December 19th at 11am ET for Two-Day UPS shipping.

How long do I have to return or exchange my Janji order or gift?

All orders placed from November 15th through December 25th can be returned for a refund until January 15th or within 30 days of purchase (whichever is more favorable to you). You also have until January 30th or within 60 days of purchase (whichever is more favorable to you) for any exchange or return for store credit.

Can I send someone a gift receipt?

Head to our gift receipt portal to create and send a gift receipt. You'll need your order number and shipping zip code.

Will the price be on the packing slip?

There is no price on any documentation for any Janji order—so the exact amount you spent on Janji.com is hidden. However, the price is on the hangtag for every product Janji sells.

Can I write a note to the person I’m sending Janji to?

Unfortunately, at this moment our warehouse can’t write out personalized notes. We are working on it though!

How do I buy and send a gift card?

Give a digital gift card to someone on your gift list here!

What's your shipping policy and timing?

Standard USPS shipping (typically 2-7 business days after leaving our warehouse and shipping anywhere in the contiguous United States) is free on all orders $75+. For orders under $75, standard shipping is a fixed $6 fee.

We aim to ship all orders that are confirmed before 1PM (ET) on the following business day. In times of high traffic during sales or holiday periods, we can experience delays as we process higher volume of orders.

We ship through both the United States Postal Service (USPS) and UPS, depending on which you choose at checkout. Expedited shipping through UPS is available at checkout for customers who need their Janji gear faster.

If you accidentally selected the wrong shipping option, please reach out to support@janji.com.

My Janji order has shipped but I haven't received it yet — where is it and how do I track it?

To track your order, use the USPS tracking label or UPS tracking number that you received in your email confirming the shipment of your order. Or, if you’ve created a personal account on janji.com, you can log in to your account page and go to Order Status to access the tracking number. Please allow up to 24 hours from receiving your shipment notification for the package tracking to update.

International customers: there can sometimes be issues in clearing customs in certain countries that can delay the shipment or even cause it to be sent back to our warehouse before it's ever delivered. See the Q: Do you ship all over the world, like even Estonia? for more on what you can do to ensure this doesn’t happen.

If something seems incorrect with your tracking or your package is taking longer than it should to arrive, send us an email to support@janji.com with your order number and we will figure out where your package is and how to get it to you ASAP.

What happens if my order is stuck in transit?

If your package is stranded at some random transit center for over a week, send us an email to support@janji.com with your order number and we will figure out where your package is and how to get it to you ASAP. Sometimes the postal service can move slowly, but we’ll get you all figured out.

What happens if I get a notification saying my shipments arrived, but I can’t find it anywhere?

There could be a few reasons for this. USPS can incorrectly scan a package at a distribution center, but it’s actually still in transit. The package might have been delivered to your neighbor, and he or she will let you know the next day. And, of course, your package could have been lifted by a passerby in need of some slick running gear. Since it’s hard to tell what might have occurred, please wait a few days before emailing us. But if you still cannot locate your Janji order after four business days let us know by emailing support@janji.com.

What if someone stole my Janji package?

While theft is pretty rare, we know this is a possibility. More often than not, if we sent you an email saying the package arrived but it’s nowhere in sight, the package was just incorrectly scanned or delivered to your neighbor. If you still cannot locate your package after waiting four days, email us at support@janji.com and we’ll get you all sorted out.

Do you ship all over the world?

Yes, we offer international shipping through USPS (2+ weeks) or DHL (1-2 weeks if you need your order to arrive a bit faster). Our international shipping rate is a fixed $20 for USPS or $40 for DHL, and all duties, customs, or any fees applied to international orders are the responsibility of the customer. If selecting USPS, it’s best to check if your postal service accepts packages from the United States Postal Service to make sure there won’t be issues in delivery, like clearing customs.

What is your return policy?

For items that are in a clean, unworn condition with the original hang tags intact, a full refund may be issued within 30 days of purchase. Janji credit of equal value may be issued for all returns within 60 days of purchase. Please include the original packing slip when shipping back to us and you will make our distribution partner so stoked if the items are folded.

We don’t accept returns for any Janji gear purchased anywhere other than janji.com. We also do not accept returns for items that have been worn or washed. We will cover the shipping costs for domestic returns and exchanges coming from anywhere in the United States only. Sorry international buddies, we do not currently offer free international returns or exchanges and therefore do not cover the shipping costs for international returns and exchanges. For international exchanges, we will cover the cost of the shipment back to you — but you are responsible for covering the cost of shipping the exchange back to us.

We charge a $5 restocking fee for all returns (per returned order, not per item).

How do I return or exchange some Janji gear that doesn’t fit or isn’t exactly what I want?

We hope you are happy with your Janji gear, but if for whatever reason you are not, we want to make the return and exchange process as easy as possible for you.

Is it a domestic (USA-based) return or exchange? If yes, then head over to our Returns + Exchanges page and get started by clicking the “GET STARTED” button which will take you to our online portal and walk you through step by step.

Is it an international return or exchange? Email us at support@janji.com with your order number and the items you’d like to return or exchange and we will get you all sorted. Please note: we do not offer free international returns and exchanges so you will need to cover the cost of shipping back to us.

I received my order, but it’s either faulty, incomplete or has the wrong size or item — what do I do?

Oh no! Let’s get this taken care of immediately. Email us at support@janji.com with your order number and the item that is faulty, missing or in the wrong size and we will get this resolved as quickly as possible so that you can get the proper item(s) and get back out there.

We try our best to produce apparel that meets a high standard of quality and construction, and have checks in place to ensure this standard is met within our fabrication process. But we, our manufacturing partners, and distribution partners are only human and errors can sometimes happen within the gear itself or in the fulfillment process in getting the gear to you. We take full responsibility for this and are sorry if you get something that is faulty, incomplete, or the incorrect size or item. We promise to remedy this and get you outfitted as fast as we can.

I want to exchange something for a different size, but that size is sold out — now what?

This can happen as some items sell out quickly and our gear is limited run. We can offer an exchange in a different color of that same style item or credit for a future purchase. Or you can choose to receive a full refund.

How long does it take to process a return or exchange?

After it hits our warehouse, it takes about 5-7 business days for our family-owned, third party warehouse to process your return. After your return is inspected, processed, and re-bagged, it takes another day for the exchanged items to ship out.

For an exchange, that means it’ll likely get to you about two weeks after it hits our warehouse. For our refund, it will also likely take two weeks for the money to hit your bank account. However, this process might be a little slower during busy times like the holidays or a sale.

I got an email saying the refund was processed, but I still don’t see the money in my bank account!

Sometimes the payment processor might be a little slow. Please double check the card that you used to ensure it’s the right one. If, after two weeks, you still don’t see the money on your card/bank account, reach out to support@janji.com.

I’ve got some Janji gear that needs fixing/repairing, do you have a repair program?

We do not offer a repair program at the moment. We are looking into programs and other ways we can close the loop within our garment life-cycle in the future.

I’ve got some Janji gear that I don’t wear anymore, do you have a take back program?

Not really and sort of. Through our Janji Collective membership program, we have launched the member-lead Janji Collective Flea Gear Swap where members can swap and sell their Janji gear each month through the Janji Collective Slack channel.

For non-members, we do not currently offer a take back program. If your apparel is in good condition, we recommend donating it.

What does the word Janji mean and how exactly do you pronounce it?

JANJI, n. /john-jee/ (Malay) — a promise or declaration.

As a mission driven brand, the “promise” behind our name is core to what we do. Read more about Our Promise.

Where is Janji located/based out of?

The Janji Studio, where all the magic happens in terms of in-house design and operations, is headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts.

What does inspired by travel mean anyway?

We are a brand with a global perspective and believe running is the best way to experience the planet we call home. We are inspired by the places we visit and run and learn from perspectives outside our own.

We evaluate the design of our apparel and gear following three D’s — Durable, Dependable & Deployable. Durable refers to longevity and repeated wearability. Dependable refers to the trust that something performs, functions and fits as intended while maintaining comfort. Deployable means it can easily pack, unpack and integrate into a kit for all conditions. Travel comes with its own set of challenges, combining travel with high-output physical activity and these three D’s are absolutely necessary.

Does Janji offer running adventure trips?

Yes, when it is safe to do so based on public health guidance. As a brand inspired by travel and with a global perspective, we believe that running is the best way to experience the world. Please stay tuned for future travel opportunities.

Do all membership fees go toward supporting clean water causes?

Yes, the full $25 membership fee for Janji Collective, minus some very nominal credit card fees, goes toward supporting clean water projects through our nonprofit partners. We accumulate Janji Collective membership fees over 3-6 months and usually make two donations per year to our designated partner for that time period — currently we are partnered with US-based Dig Deep.

I can join your membership program with a one-time fee and get lifetime benefits?

Yep, that’s the deal! Become a member now and you can start taking advantage of those lifetime benefits, like the 15% discount on all Janji orders, immediately. Too good to be true, eh? Some things in life really are and we hope to make running and supporting a great cause two of them.

My Janji Collective discount isn’t working, what do I do?

Don’t panic. If you have created a personal account on janji.com, log in and your 15% Janji Collective discount will automatically be added to your cart. If you do not have a personal account yet, we highly recommend creating one as the personal account will not only allow you to streamline your shopping experience by automatically adding your 15% discount to your cart, but also provide access to the exclusive Janji Collective Member Store, and let you check your order history and order status.

Please note that your Janji Collective discount applies to all Janji gear including sale items (sweet!) and can be used in combination with gift cards, but cannot be combined with other discount codes. Why do you support clean water causes?

Janji makes running essentials that support life essentials. We believe water is a human right and far too many people worldwide lack reliable access to clean water and sanitation. As runners we know the importance of proper hydration, as fellow humans we recognize the vitalness of this critical resource and believe running can be used to make the world better. We are a mission-driven brand and have supported water causes since day one by giving a percentage back from every single purchase to sustainable water projects in the places that inspire each of our collections.

Learn more about Our Promise

How much do you give to support clean water and how exactly does that work?

We give 2% of every purchase to nonprofits already working on sustainable clean water projects in the places that inspire each of our seasonal collections. We also give through our Janji Collective membership program — 100% of membership fees go toward clean water projects (see the Membership Program section of the FAQ for more on that).

For the 2% from each purchase, it works exactly like this:

1. We produce a collection inspired by a region with prints and graphics designed with an artist(s) from that same place.

2. We research, vet and, where possible, meet-up with clean water nonprofits working in that region so we can choose a reputable partner (we often consult experts in clean water research and practices as well during this stage).

3. Once the sell-in season is largely over for that collection — usually 6-9 months after the season launches — we calculate the sum of all those cumulative 2% per purchase and send a donation directly to the nonprofit.

4. We do not stipulate what the money should be allocated for specifically, as we believe our nonprofit partners know how to allocate their funds best in order to maximize their effectiveness.

5. A follow-up donation happens after the remaining pieces from that collection completely sell-out.

6. We follow up with our water partner periodically over the next year on updates and progress.

Which water nonprofits do you work with and where are their projects based?

We partner with a handful of reputable nonprofits working on sustainable clean water solutions around the world including:

Water for People (Bolivia and Peru)

Splash (Nepal and Cambodia)

Evidence Action (Kenya and Uganda)

Isla Urbana (México)

Manila Water Foundation (Philippines)

Dig Deep (United States)

Check out more about each of these projects and our current water partner on Our Promise.

Does Janji measure and offset carbon emissions?

Janji is working with Climate Neutral to measure our carbon footprint and develop strategies to reduce and offset emissions. In 2022, Janji estimates ~19,000 tons in CO2 emissions to manufacture our products, transport them, and run our daily business operations.

The _______ (fill in Janji gear) I really want from you is sold out in my size — is it ever coming back?

Janji gear is limited run, meaning if we sell out, often that product doesn’t come back in that same color or print even though the style may return season after season in different colors and prints.

However, we are trying to keep some of our bestsellers in stock in select solid colors like the AFO Middle Short in Steadfast Midnight and the Multipass Sling Bag in Steadfast Midnight. We will continue to grow what we call our Steadfast Collection of styles that are always available online while our seasonal prints, graphics, and bolder colorways will remain limited as they are unique to the place that they are inspired by and the artist(s) that designs them.

Why are so many of your products sold out?

In keeping our collections unique to their inspiration and the artist(s) that design the prints and graphics, Janji gear is limited run. While some pieces sell out super fast after their release, many will be sold through as we get closer to the end of the season.

How often do you release new stuff?

Quite a lot. We produce two primary apparel collections per year (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter) that we release periodically in a series of smaller drops throughout those seasons. We are always supplementing those larger collections with smaller capsules like new accessories and collaborative projects that come out throughout the year as well. We don't have a set release schedule, but you can basically bet on some newness happening every two weeks or so.

Get priority access to all releases by becoming a Janji Collective member. Learn more

Sign up for our email newsletter to get the heads up for new product releases.

Do you have plans to make ______ (insert the dream thing you are hoping Janji will come out with) in the near future?

Possibly. We are working hard on responsibly expanding our product scale and scope and release new products often. Sign up for our newsletter to get the heads up on product drops and join Janji Collective for priority early access to all new releases.

I want to try Janji on in person — where can I do this?

We are carried in quite a few specialty running stores as well as REI Co-Op stores across the USA. Just head over to our Store Locator to find the closest store in your ‘hood carrying Janji.

Also, we offer free exchanges and a streamlined return experience online in case you order something and it’s not a perfect fit or what you were looking for. We promise, we’ll do whatever we can to make the return process hassle-free so you can spend more time running and less time sweating the back and forth.

We want everyone’s Janji gear to fit perfectly — if you have further fit questions please email us at support@janji.com and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.

I’ve bought some Janji apparel in the past and some recently and the fit is different even though the size is the same — what’s the deal with this Janji?

The honest answer is that we are always trying to get our fit right. We strive each season to produce consistent, high-quality products that perform, last and fit as best as possible. This means continually iterating on the design lines, materials, trims, and features season-to-season. It is a delicate balancing act, and altering one of these variables, along with other changes in the design and/or fabrication process, may cause the fit to slightly change. We recognize how critical the fit of performance apparel is, and we are working on reducing size discrepancy as much as possible. While we don’t believe in perfection, we are working toward making the most perfect product we can, and this is an ongoing, evolving process and dialogue between our team and our customers, which is why your feedback is so important.

Why do you only offer sizes XS-XXL for women and S-XL for men, and not a greater range of sizes?

As a small, independent brand, we hear about this from customers, and rightly so. We try to be an inclusive, egalitarian brand as much as we can be, and the fact that we are not able to offer more sizes is frustrating. The answer is that we have to deal with the limitations of our scale. Each size that we make is a variant in our “pattern,” and we pay to produce each variant. We are not yet able to offer a wider range in those patterns yet, but as we continue to grow we absolutely have plans to increase our available size runs.

Do you offer a warranty or form of guarantee on Janji gear?

Our Run Everywhere Guarantee gives you the assurance and peace of mind to wear your Janji gear anywhere and everywhere. If a Janji product rips, tears, or breaks within five years due to any defect in workmanship or material, we promise to repair it, replace it, or give you store credit for it. If you find that your Janji gear has suffered from a defect, poor construction, or an issue on our end, please email support@janji.com to initiate the process. Please note that damages due to normal wear and tear — or from misuse, neglect, or mistreatment — are not subject to the Run Everywhere Guarantee and will not be replaced, open to our review and discretion.

What are the best wash and care practices for Janji gear?

We are trying to build products that require minimal maintenance and can handle long-term, high-frequency use and stress. But once they leave us and are in your hands, it’s up to you. Caring for your product in the right way is a big part of making sure it lasts for as long as possible, which minimizes its impact. When in doubt, check the care label on the garment itself for wash instructions as these vary per fabric.

In general, we aim to make Janji gear that can be worn more, washed less. We suggest hang drying whenever possible. Many of our fabrics are made to dry quickly and will do so when hung. This will reduce energy consumption and very likely prolong the lifespan of your gear.

Pro tip from Cam, our Digital Marketing + Janji Collective Community Manager:
Wear your Janji shorts and tops into the shower after a run or workout and hang dry them in the bathroom after. This will reduce the need for machine washing and drying and save both water and energy.

Note on micro-fibers: Washing your clothes on delicate cycle can produce more micro-fibers, so we recommend using a guppy bag for your synthetics to prevent micro-fiber shedding. We are working on transitioning to fabrics like premium grade, tightly woven nylons that shed less micro-fibers in the wash but this is an inevitability of using synthetics.

Where is Janji stuff made?

Most Janji gear is manufactured in Vietnam, which produces almost the entirety of our apparel line.

Some of our accessories are currently made in China.

We are proud to work with the following manufacturing partners:

  1. King Hamm - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
  2. Intermax - Hanoi, Vietnam
  3. Dar Lon - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
  4. Bodynits - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
  5. Heads Up - Taipei, Taiwan
  6. Pungkook - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

Why do you produce apparel in Asia and not, for instance, in the USA?

This is a matter of specialty, expertise, consistency and frankly, dependability and availability. We are committed to working with manufacturing partners that specialize in performance apparel — Vietnam is a leader in this industry as is China — and have a proven track record of both ethical practices and technical ability. There are certain fabrications, like the making of a fully-taped waterproof garment with technical articulated seaming, that are nearly impossible to find within the United States, and so we make ours where they specialize in this exact thing.

How is your apparel made from an environmental impact and fair labor point of view?

This is not a simple question to answer, especially for a company that relies on performance based materials, i.e., synthetics. Everything we produce has an impact, and by and large, the apparel industry has a waste and accountability problem. While we don't have all the answers, we are making an effort to improve ourselves in order to be a part of the solution and influence change. Here are some of the main things that we are doing now within our supply chain and will continue working toward to become a more responsible brand:

1. Our primary factories are WRAP GOLD accredited facilities, which is a third party, USA-based nonprofit that specializes in auditing apparel factories to ensure they are upholding fair labor practices and good environmental processes in advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are continuing to work with our manufacturing partners to find ways our factories and mills can further their accreditations, meaning being held accountable for upholding best practices and treatment of those involved in the production of our stuff and how our stuff impacts the environment.

2. Since 2020, all of our primary fabrics are either bluesign®, OEKO-TEX®, or Responsible Wool Standard certified. We pay a premium for these fabrics to be made under the guidelines of these certifications which ensures they are free from chemicals harmful to people, animals, and the planet.

3. We are transitioning away from virgin polyester to recycled polyester or nylon (which is more durable and odor-resistant). By the end of 2023, 100% of our polyester will be recycled and we will be transitioning our nylon program to use more recycled materials, with an overall target of 75% recycled synthetics by 2024.

Learn more about this and the other initiatives we are working toward on Our Responsibility.

Do you have a code of conduct?

Yes, we are proud to have a Code of Conduct signed by all of our finished product manufacturers. You can view it here.

Why do you use synthetics in your apparel?

As a performance apparel brand that makes clothing and gear primarily to use in high-output and high-impact activity, day in and day out, synthetics are simply a necessary part of the equation. They perform targeted functions like wicking away sweat, drying super quickly, blocking UPF, or repelling wind and water more than natural fibers do. These things are critical within our product range, although this isn’t to say we are totally in love with synthetics.

The biggest issue with synthetics is that they are around forever. They simply take too long to break down, something like 400+ years for conventional plastics. We plan to eliminate virgin polyester within our primary fabric program by the end of 2023 by switching over to a mix of nylon (more durable and odor-resistant than polyester) and recycled polyester. This is part of our commitment to making better products for our customers while reducing the impact of those products on the planet, and finding ways we can close the loop more within our product lifecycle.

Learn more about this and other fabric initiatives on Our Responsibility.

Do you use recycled or eco-friendly fabrics and materials?

Yes we do. 100% of our polyester will be recycled starting Fall 2023 with the goal of using 75% recycled materials across our line by the end of 2024.

Learn more about our fabrics and environmental initiatives in Our Responsibility.

Are your recycled polyester fabrics made from plastic bottles?

Yes, but not necessarily exclusively. Recycled polyester can be made from different forms of plastic, and while many brands tote the plastic bottle thing, we prioritize performance, comfort, durability and hand-feel (meaning soft, not scratchy) when selecting our fabrics, especially those within our recycled program. Our recycled polyester fabrics are made from post-consumer recycled plastic sources including rPET — the form of recyclable plastic, commonly seen in single-use plastic bottles and containers.

Do you use fabrics made from natural fibers?

Absolutely. We often combine natural fibers with synthetics in multiple fabrics to increase performance while maintaining the soft feel and versatile look of natural fibers. For example, our Repeat Merino fabric has the natural odor-resistance and thermoregulation of Merino Wool, but its durability, ease of care, and performance are enhanced by 37.5® nylon.

I see AFO in the name of a bunch of your products — what does AFO mean anyway?

Glad you asked. AFO is one of our mainstay fabrics that stands for AirFlatOut. It is ultra lightweight (made to feel weightless), and very fast drying. We named it this because we felt like you could put in a serious effort and drench the fabric thoroughly with sweat, take it off, give it some air, fold it flat and then peace out. Seriously, we’ve done it and in 5-10 mins or so with a nice breeze outside it’s nearly dry. Or, if you prefer, it’s as light as air and made to go flat out. Your choice, we can go either way. AFO is a 4-way stretch, recycled poly-spandex blend that we use on our best-selling shorts styles like the M’s + W’s Middle Shorts, M’s Split Shorts, and our M’s + W’s AFO Singlets.

“I simply can't believe how light this singlet is. Feels like it weighs less than a paper towel.” — J. Arrieta

“I love how light this tank is. I hardly can tell I’m wearing anything.” — A. Bartz

Shop all AFO

I see TT in the name of a bunch of your products — what does TT mean anyway?

TT is short for Transit Tech, a mainstay fabric program of ours. These styles, as the name suggests, are transitional and designed to be super versatile. TT fabric is lightweight and breathable with a durable water repellent treatment (DWR) that makes it rain and wind resistant and dry quickly. Ideal for transitioning between the city and the trail, a run and the cafe, a sunny day and variable conditions. Transit Tech pieces have become a de facto team uniform on Janji trips (mostly because they are light, stylish and have secure zip pockets), go-to run commute outfits and fantastic swimwear.

Fabric bonus: the interior lining of the TT fabric has what’s called loopers, which raise the fabric off the skin creating a micro air barrier that prevents sticking when sweaty.

Shop all TT

Do you use chemical finishes on your apparel?

As of 2023, we are 100% PFAS free across our apparel line. All products with water repellency use C0 (PFC-free) based water repellency.

Do you protect animal welfare in your supply chain?

Yes, Janji exclusively works with highly reputable merino wool suppliers that protect the well-being of sheep in the wool supply chain. All our merino is Responsible Wool Standard certified, meaning animal welfare is monitored according to global standards and best practices.

Do you have a Restricted Substances List?

Yes, we are proud to have a Restricted Substances List (RSL) aligned with Bluesign’s internationally recognized certification standards. You can view our RSL here.

Are all your designs created by artists?

No, not entirely. Each season our in-house design team collaborates with an artist or artists in developing the prints for our seasonal Artist Series Kits. We select artists, graphic designers/illustrators, and textile designers from the place that inspires that seasonal collection as a way to present a different perspective, an insider’s point of view, and because we dig their work. We try to work as much as possible with these artists so that all prints for a given collection are developed in partnership with them. These prints may also appear in placed graphics.

The actual design of Janji apparel and gear is overseen by our in-house creative team, as are some prints and graphics.

What is the inspiration for each seasonal Janji collection?

Every Janji collection is inspired by a region. This means lots of upfront research into that place by our in-house design team, seeking out and collaborating with artist(s) from that place, wear-testing the gear and photographing it in that place, and giving back to support clean water projects through a nonprofit working in that same place as well.

How does your design process work?

With lots of time, sweat, and a bit of magic (some call it luck). We believe in a continually iterative and evolving process which is why dialogue with our customers, wear-testers and Janji Collective members is so critical.

Our small design team initiates each season with deep-dive research into the region that will be our main source of inspiration for the season. This includes research into artists from that place and kicking off conversations to find the right collaborative partner for our Artist Series Kit prints. We develop all apparel and gear designs in-house, and after countless hours, numerous prototypes, tons of print iterations, lots of coffee, and many miles of wear-testing, we finally produce a collection that gets put to the test (and photographed) in the place that inspired it before becoming available to you.

What packaging materials do you use?

We use unlined, un-insulated envelope mailers made in the USA from 40-90% post-consumer recycled paper. These envelope mailers are 100% recyclable and compostable and printed with water based inks. Our hang-tags are printed on uncoated, FSC certified paper and/or recycled paper.

For products manufactured in 2021 and earlier, we use biodegradable plastic garment bags, known as poly bags, to protect the apparel.

Starting in January 2022, we have stopped using poly bags for over 90% of our products, instead using the roll-tie method with a strand of biodegradable raffia to secure the garment in transit. This initiative will eliminate hundreds of thousands of poly bags from our supply chain. We still use poly bags for sports bras and all zippered jackets because they need additional protection in transit from our manufacturing partners to our distribution center and then on to you. Our target is to be 100% free of individual poly bags by Spring 2024.

We continue to look for ways we can further reduce our footprint and impact on the environment, including our packaging, which you can read more about in Our Responsibility.

What forms of payment do you accept in exchange for Janji gear?

We accept the usual forms of credit card payment like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express as well as PayPal. No bitcoin, sorry we aren’t mining.

You’ll be charged for your order when it is placed.

Does your site use cookies?

Yes, we use cookies, as pretty much all sites do these days as a way to improve and tailor the user experience. A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your computer or device when you visit certain websites. We use a number of different cookies on janji.com, including strictly necessary, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies.

Cookies help us make your browsing experience better by allowing our website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login and region selection). This means you don’t have to re-enter this information each time you return to our site or browse from one page to another. Cookies also provide information on how people use our website, for instance whether it’s their first time visiting or if they are a frequent visitor, and we use this data to continually improve janji.com.

What cookies do you use and why?

Okay, we know this is a lot of info, but we want to be totally open and comprehensive and are laying it all out there, so to speak. We are dedicated to our customer’s experience on janji.com and we use many tools to help us improve our site such as the following:

Necessary cookies allow you to browse our website, use its features, and access secure areas. The use of these cookies is essential for the website to work efficiently. For example, we use user-input cookies for the duration of a session to keep track of a customer’s input when filling out forms across several pages, like the checkout process.

Functional cookies remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences. For example, authentication cookies are functional cookies that are used for the duration of a session (or persistent, if you agree to the “remember me” function) to allow users to authenticate themselves on subsequent visits or to gain access to authorized content across pages. The functional cookies we use include:

User-centric security cookies to detect authentication abuses for a limited persistent duration, like repeated failed login attempts. These cookies are set for the specific task of increasing the security of the service.

Multimedia content player session cookies (flash cookies) are used for the duration of a session to store technical data needed to play back video or audio content (e.g. image quality, network link speed, and buffering parameters).

Load balancing session cookies are used for the duration of the session to identify the same server in the pool in order for the load balancer to redirect user requests appropriately.

User interface customization persistent cookies are used to store a user’s preference regarding a service across web pages.

Analytics cookies collect information about how you use our website, and how often. These cookies only gather information for statistical purposes and only use pseudonymous cookie identifiers that do not directly identify you. The performance cookies we use include:

First party analytics cookies - We use these cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors, to improve our websites and our merchants’ websites, and to detect the most searched for words in search engines that lead to a webpage. These cookies are not used to target you with online marketing. We use these cookies to learn how our websites and our merchants’ websites are performing and make relevant improvements to improve your browsing experience.

Third party analytics cookies - We also use Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers listed below to help measure how users interact with our website content. These cookies “remember” what our users have done on previous pages and how they’ve interacted with the website. For more information on Google Analytics, visit Google’s information page. When you visit or log in to our website, cookies and similar technologies may be used by our online data partners or vendors to associate these activities with other personal information they or others have about you, including by association with your email or home address. We (or service providers on our behalf) may then send communications and marketing to these email or home addresses. You may opt out of receiving this advertising by visiting https://app.retention.com/optout.

Advertising cookies are used on our website to tailor marketing to you and your interests and provide you with a more personalized service in the future. These cookies remember that you visited our website and we may share this information with third-parties, such as advertisers. Although these cookies can track your device’s visits to our website and other sites, they typically cannot personally identify you. Without these cookies, the advertisements that you see may be less relevant and interesting to you.

Social and content cookies are placed by many social media plugins (for example the Facebook ‘like’ button), and other tools meant to provide or improve the content on a website (for example services that allow the playing of video files, or that create comments sections). We integrate these modules into our website to improve the experience of browsing and interacting with our website. Please note that some of these third party services place cookies that are also used for things like behavioral advertising, analytics, and/or market research.

If our company or our assets are acquired by another company, that company will possess the Personal Information collected by us and it will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy.

We may use third parties to facilitate or outsource one or more aspects of the services that we provide to you and therefore we may provide some Personal Information directly to these service providers. These service providers are subject to confidentiality agreements with us that prohibit their use or disclosure of the information we provide them for any purpose other than to facilitate the specific outsourced service.

We may disclose your Personal Information to third party marketers for commercial purposes so that they can mail you information that may interest you. In these cases, the information we share will not be authorized for the purpose of contacting you by email or SMS.

We may disclose your Personal Information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with relevant laws or to respond to subpoenas or warrants served on ROKA; or (b) protect and defend the rights or property of ROKA or users of our Site.

You can also ask us to stop processing your data at any time. Just get in touch with us by emailing us at support@janji.com if you want us to delete, stop or adjust any part of our processing. As long as it’s legal and we’re able to, we will act as fast as possible and inform you of when we do.

What’s the benefit of creating an account on janji.com?

For Janji Collective members, the account login allows you to access the exclusive Janji Collective Member Store, streamlines your shopping experience by automatically adding your 15% discount to your cart once logged in, and lets you check your order history and order status.

For non-Janji Collective members, creating an account allows you streamline the checkout process by storing your details (we do not share your account info or details with any other parties) and lets you check your order history and status in your account profile.

Does creating a personal account mean I’m a member now?

No, they are not the same thing. The personal account is a free login that you can create on our site to streamline the checkout process by storing your details (we do not share your account info or details with any other parties) and to check your order history and status in your account profile. The Janji Collective membership program is a community of like-minded runners and adventurers that receive lifetime benefits, like a 15% discount on all Janji orders, in exchange for a one-time $25 membership fee.

Members receive the best perks. Learn more and become a Janji Collective member here.

I joined the Janji Collective membership program, does that mean I automatically have an account login?

No, joining the Janji Collective membership program does not automatically create an account. But you should create one if you haven't yet, as the account login is the only way to access the exclusive Janji Collective Member Store and will streamline your shopping experience by automatically adding your 15% discount to your cart once logged in.

I love Janji, but am not looking to change jobs, how else can I get more involved with what you’re doing (without working for you)?

We like where your head's at — we have some ideas:

1. Help spread the message that Water is a Human Right.

2. Tell your friends about what and how we’re doing it — one of the biggest ways new people hear about Janji is through word of mouth from amazing runners and adventurers like you.

3. Join our Janji Collective membership program and get insider access to all the things we have cooking.

4. If you are a content creator or creative producer in the running and greater outdoors space and would like to work with us collaboratively, reach out to mike@janji.com.

5. If you are an artist, activist, social rights advocate, environmentalist, clean water. researcher/worker, or just badass runner/outdoors enthusiast/individual and would like to share your story with our audience, reach out to mike@janji.com for the opportunity to be featured on the Janji Travelogue (our blog) and across our social channels.

6. Continue the journey with us on social.

How can I get Janji products to sample and/or high-res imagery to feature in my publication?

Thanks for thinking of us. We can definitely get those over to you, just reach out to mike@janji.com with what gear you are interested in (colors, sizes) or assets you need (size, format, use case) as well as a projected publishing timeline, and we’ll get you what you need as fast as possible.

I’m a creative content producer (photographer, videographer, or writer) that specializes in the greater outdoors, running and/or adventure space — how can I collaborate with Janji?

We are always on the lookout for great content producers to work with on upcoming adventures and/or to show love by featuring across our different platforms like the Janji Travelogue (our blog). Reach out to mike@janji.com with all content production inquiries.

I’m a content producer (photographer, videographer, or writer) and/or runner, activist, environmentalist who has this rad idea and is looking for brand sponsors to make it happen — will Janji help fund something like this?

Yeah, this sounds up our alley. While we may have limited resources, we like to think outside the box and get creative in finding ways to support cool projects, especially ones that align with our values of running, adventure and/or social/environmental causes. Reach out to mike@janji.com and give us the scope and deets of your project and we’ll be in touch with how we may help.

I run a lot, can I become a Janji ambassador or wear-tester?

We do not have an official sponsorship at the moment, but are always looking for great candidates for our wear test program and to rep Janji. These positions are reserved for Janji Collective members as the best perks are, but after becoming a Janji Collective member you can reach out to cam@janji.com to let her know your interest as well as a little about yourself, your running deets and measurements (it helps our designers if you have ‘em).

I work at a store that carries Janji, can I get a pro-deal?

Yes. We absolutely offer pro-deals for people who work at retailers that carry Janji. Just email support@janji.com, tell us who you work for, and we’ll get you set up and kitted out. REI employees, please check in with your supervisor or store manager for info on accessing the Janji pro-deal through REI’s ProDeal program.

I have some feedback, comments or a story for you — how do I get in touch?

We are suckers for a good story and read every single review and piece of feedback we get, so keep ‘em coming. Reach out to us at support@janji.com. Your feedback makes us better and we’re listening.

I have a question that’s not in this FAQ — who do I ask?

Dang. We tried to exhaust as many frequently asked questions as possible, but know that this list is not all inclusive. If you have a query that is not addressed, send us an email at support@janji.com and we will get back to you shortly…
