The AURAS Ultrafleece hoodie is your new go-to for adventures where minimizing pack weight is the name of the game. The proprietary Astra fleece was developed for cold days when you want breathable, ultra fast-drying warmth, and hard efforts where you need to carry as little as possible while still being prepared. With a mesh exterior and one-sided brushed fleece interior, this fabric carries moisture away from your skin to prevent chill. The fleece interior traps air to keep you warm, and the mesh face minimizes weight for longer days on the trail when a heavier pack will slow you down.

Features
  • Fast-drying, moisture-wicking comfort
  • Brushed fleece interior insulates for warmth
  • Integrated thumb holes keep sleeves in place
  • Super lightweight and pack friendly - packs down into its own side zip pocket
  • Half-zip for adjustable breathability
  • 180º visibility hood

Super light weight hoodie that will keep you warm

Super light weight hoodie that will keep you warm on those cold runs. I put it on in the house because I didn’t think something this light would work and within 10 minutes I had to take it off cause I was getting too hot.

Defective Hoodie

I purchased the Auras ultrafleece hoodie with high hopes, it was my first Janji item and I have heard such good things about it. But when it came, the left arm was several inches shorter than the right and tight in the upper arm. I sent pictures to the support team and they sent me another fleece and unfortunately this one has the same issue. I have still used it a few times but it is mildly annoying to have two defective hoodies when I really just wanted one that was fully functional. Other than the defect it is an awesome fleece super light and surprisingly warm.

I really enjoy the feel of the ultrafleece. Its warm and breathable which is a must for me. The one issue i have is on build quality, the left arm sleeve is about an inch shorter than the right. Making it uncomfortable to use the thumb holes. When worn normal it compensates to the left side and pulls the rest of the hoodie along with it.

Great midlayer

I had been looking for a fleece quarter zip for a while to use as a midlayer over a base layer and potentially under a shell or windbreaker jacket, and this is it! Surprisingly warm for how lightweight and breathable it is, but doesn’t get too warm on cold and windy days in MN when worn under a windproof shell jacket. Love it!

Am I wearing anything?

An insanely lightweight fit for everyday use or on a cold morning run. For reference I live in Florida so Florida cold! Janji top torsos typically run short on me and this followed suit

Fascinatingly Comfortable

This is a great shirt - I have not used it for running but I have used it for recovery and it is great layer for cooler weather.

Don’t use bib holders

Love the jacket. Kept me warm during my marathon in 21° but learned a hard lesson. Don’t use bib holders on it. I have a hole that cannot be repaired 🙃.

Absolutely love

This has been my go-to layer this winter. From -10f to 40f it’s been the ideal for multiple layering configurations. As a long armed guy, the longer than usual sleeve length on this during the cold has been absolutely killer in making this versatile in the Minnesota winter. Wind, rain, snow, sun. I love this thing.

Super thin

I thought "fleece" meant insulated like this would be appropriate outerwear for winter running. This is just about the thinnest piece of clothing I own. There is a bit of synthetic "insulation" happening I think as the synthetic layers keep some air in. But it is extremely breathable, meaning all the outdoor cold air cuts right through to the bone. I think this probably best for late-summer/early-fall running and nothing more.

Ultralight warmth

This hoodie is surprisingly warm provided you use it with some kind of a windbreaker. The design allows it to vent heat quickly if you need it to, yet it’s warm enough to replace a thicker/heavier layer if you wear a windbreaker over it.

Donate your other midlayers.

This top is truely an appreciable improvement over so many other items on the market. This was my first time in an "alpha" style fleece so here are a couple selling points and a couple conditions to be aware of. TLDR "I LOVE IT!" I bought two for me so I wouldn't end up facing going on a hike while mine was in the wash. Even bought one for my dad.

Weighs half as much as a regular micro-grid fleece and you won't get as sweaty because you can vent heat and moisture extremely quickly. In the same way, the warmth you build up will vanish instantly in a slight wind so it almost requires wearing something over it. You will want a layer on top of it that is easy to vent in a controlled way through the front and sides/pit zips to really take advantage of what it can do. The extreme breathability and fragile, lightweight nature of the fabric means this piece is definitely not an outer layer to expose to rough tail conditions. Likewise, the sizing was spot-on for me, and if you struggle at all to pull it on overhead, I would be concerned you might tear a seam in a the shoulders or elbow.
Short of that, you really could get two of these so you always have one and donate many of your other mid-layers. You can comfortably achieve any temperature with little tweaks to what you wear under and on top of it. I am super impressed. Nice work Janji!

Great warmth to weight ratio but microplastics

This mid layer is a joy to wear but I have to admit I feel very uneasy about it. It is quite warm and feather weight. The fuzz is fun. Took it out running in the upper 20’s (°F) and with a wind breaker was quite warm. But … when I saw all the little hairs shed all over everything the first I wore it, I had an intense visceral understanding of what microplastics are. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the piece seems very delicate and will probably need to be treated with more care than I spend on most of my gear to extend its lifetime. Finally, I sized up, and didn’t need to

read before buying

Based on what this product is made of, I'm obligated to write a review to help ensure people are making informed decisions before purchasing (at the time of writing this there aren't any reviews). The material that this is made out of is very similar to Alpha Direct. For those who haven't worn anything made from Alpha Direct, the warmth to weight ratio is unbeatable but with a material like this there are some different pro's and con's to consider.

Pro's - extremely light weight, breathable, packable, (warmth to weight ratio is unclassed).
Con's/trade offs - durability (i.e. wearing this under a vest might see friction related wear and tear, or potential snags on tree branches), with this level of breathability, wind will go straight through this.

With all of that said though, the high level of breathability is definitely a feature not a bug though / if you pair this with a wind shell, the combo can tackle pretty chilly conditions without a problem.

Overall it's a great piece of kit and sizing/quality is in line with other Janji products so won't go much into that but just wanted to make sure people have the extra details on the material since it's a bit hard to tell in the pictures / description.

P.S. - it would probably be a good idea to wash in a "delicate" wash bag to avoid potential washing related wear and tear
