Spread the message:
Water is a human right!
The graphics in this capsule emphasize the core of what we do — expand access to clean water for more people. In each Janji collection we have a dedicated Water Is A Human Right graphic and this season’s features two different versions of the artist series print “Geo-refraction” by Al Luke— the MR portion of MRS + MR LUKE, our artist collaborators from Cape Town.
Averting Day Zero
Cape Town, South Africa almost became the first city to declare Day Zero back in 2018 (when we started researching and designing this season). This means that the city reservoirs nearly ran empty, which would have left the municipality effectively out of water and unable to provide clean water for its people. Thanks to its denizens working together and reducing their water intake, as well as the luck of mother nature replenishing the reservoirs with much needed rain, Cape Town was able to divert the crisis. While so much more work is needed to ensure water sustainability, the collective action of its citizenry to change Cape Town’s circumstances encourages us as we look optimistically toward working together to create a more just world.
