Not for thick thighs

I love the idea of this short, the pockets are deep and things stay in place minus the thigh area, I have other shorts with same length and does not cause chafing, something with the material that gave me rash and the taping is not the same as the 7 inch. I bought the medium size which felt slightly tight but after running in them they felt good, I did notice they ride up on the waist as well causing the camel to appear. I gave it two tries, the second time with anti chafe and still cause painful rash. I’ve contacted Janji to find out if they can give me money back or another option but they just told me I can return unused. I regret buying them and wish REI had them since they stand behind their all products.

Perfect Trail Shorts

These have just the right amount of compression vs stretch. They have the perfect leg stickies that actually keep them in place without cutting off your circulation. Tons of pockets, big and small. Love love love.

Good but

I love the shorts , the silicone dotted band around the leg just will not stay in place like I had hoped. But the product other than that is good.

Great shorts with one major flaw

Wish they were a bit longer, these shorts are awesome in every other aspect including pockets and breathability. One major flaw however, is that they are not truly 4 inch, the shortness of the material causes them to ride up in the mid leg which causes chafing.

The good and the bad

Good - quality of materials, grippy leg things, style, pockets
Bad - my usual size small seems right but i get double-wedgies (both places!) when wearing them. it is hard not to notice this while running. sizing up doesn't help. i think the rise of the shorts don't work with my body, unfortunately.

Perfect shorts!

Really like these shorts - they feel great, do really well during super hot weather and dry fast. The pocket space is plentiful.
My two meh points: 1) the back pocket I was hoping to use for soft flask is nice but it’s impossible to use it without stopping for 5 mins to get the flask out and put it back 2) I’d prefer a bit more compression, those don’t seem to be very compressed

Great Trail Shorts

The pockets fit my iphone 17, a rarity with running shorts, as well other stuff. Nice clip for a key. I wore for several days on Tour des Combins recently.

These are my second pair and I love them! They

These are my second pair and I love them! They stayed in place for the most part and are very comfortable. I like the adjustable waste and pockets. My only wish is that these were available in XXS as that's my usual size. I ordered XS and I would say they are true to size. I'm 5’4” and 100lbs.

Legs ride up

I ordered a pair of the 4” trail shorts and 5” pace shorts. Pace shorts are perfect and the legs do actually stay in place.
The 4” trail shorts fit well, pockets are good, etc but they ride up immediately. Maybe they need that extra inch of material to stay put?

Great utilitarian summer running shorts!

I've worn these now for short (3-5 mile) and longer (9-10 mile) runs and can say that they're really solid! They're a lighter material than other similar shorts that I own - they dry fast, and the pockets are outstanding. Plenty of room for everything that I need. My minor complaint is that the shorts roll/slide up on me for the first mile or two. Once I'm sweaty enough they stay put, but until the rubber grips don't tend to want to grip. Considering that the miles after the first two are the ones where I need comfort the most, I'm fine with this! I'm 135 lbs, 5'4" and bought Mediums. They don't squeeze, and are very comfortable. I do find I needed to tighten the tie a bit, but the tie is comfortable and holds well once tied.

Lightweight, Functional, and Built to Run

These 4" trail shorts have quickly become one of my favorites. The fit is spot-on and they pretty much stay put for the entire run without riding up, even on longer miles. The lightweight fabric is comfortable and breathable, and the deep pockets easily hold my essentials without bouncing around. I also love the pop of color! It adds a fun touch without sacrificing performance. I'd definitely recommend these shorts to any runner looking for comfort, function, and a great fit on the trails or the road.

Aesthetically, the shorts wear like the picture, they fit very well. However. The sticky parts designed to keep the shorts in place dont really work. The shorts curl and move, so that sucks

Really wanted to love!

I was really hoping to love these shorts! They have great pockets and capacity but i still have issues with them riding up and getting some serious inner thigh chafing in a variety of weather types. But going up a size would end up likely being too big in the waist and too much bounce to hold everything. If there is a way to provide better measurements or better grip on the legs.

These are the best shorts I've ever owned. They are comfortable, don't ride up, and the pocket capacity is awesome. I've always struggled with inner thigh chafing and recently moved somewhere very hot and humid, and my chafe cream just wasn't cutting it. I've worn these shorts on five runs now (3-8mi), and have had zero chaffing. I love my other Janji shorts, but these are a game changer for where I live currently.

Great material

The pros: the material is amazing, love they have the tie waist, and the pockets are the best! The cons: For reference I'm 5'2 and 130lbs, usually a medium in athletic shorts and I have the Janji 7/8 trail tights in medium. I have thick thighs and these were rolling up while I was walking around the house before I left for my run, I spent most of my actual run pulling them back down. I probably should have sized up or gone with the 7" but I wanted something shorter.
