Truly outstanding shorts. As a thru hiker and runner, Im in these for many, many hours a day, so the overall design, breathability, comfort, and... the pockets - I can go on about the pockets! So practical! But let me simply say, the quantity plus their functionality makes me happy. I'm 5'-8" tall & weigh 150 lbs so the medium fits me perfectly. The leg opening is just right to accommodate long strides and full range of motion while scrambling & rock hopping without flossing off my upper thigh hair, while the inner mesh brief is contoured and snug enough to keep everything in place without needless compression (you know what Im saying), or chafing at the leg openings. Ive tried a lot - and I mean ALOT of running shorts over the years, and it's beyond my comprehension how so many other running company's shorts with inner brief combo badly miss the mark - the outer may be perfect while the inner is bewilderingly impractical (or vice versa). I live in the US desert southwest so the tan color is great as it doesn't show dirty sweat stains, while it's light enough to not steam your parts off in triple-digit temps. Request: Janji, will you please do a restock on the tan color, as well as offer some more colors other than black and (not-so-handsome) blue?As for durability, Ive been beating the snot out of them for consecutive weeks and they seem to be only getting better with age. Smell test: They smell wonderful! OK, maybe not so wonderful after multiple high exertion days on the trail, but unlike many other brands, I haven't been gag-reflexed into wanting to burn them after a few hours of sweating in them. It's really quite impressive how Janji accomplishes this if Im being honest. Two minuscule nit-picks worth mentioning: 1) Perhaps reverse the bonded seam hem so it's on the outside of the shorts and not against the skin. 2) There's a seam that's doubled over on the front pocket under the waist band that sits directly on the iliac spine (front hip bone protrusion) that bugs me sometimes, especially while wearing a pack with a hip belt, but Ive sort of gotten used to it. When it is noticeable, I just tuck in the front of my shirt and it's fixed. I could go on raving about how great these things are, but I've already written a mini dissertation here so I will conclude by declaring this: In all my years as an outdoor adventurer, I may have found, if they do indeed exist, the perfect shorts. You should probably get a pair.
