THRU HIKE APPROVED

I wore these shorts everyday for 5 weeks straight while thru hiking the colorado trail. The have lasted through many training runs and half marathons. I was on the hunt far and wide for a pair of biker shorts that would be durable, wouldn't ride up, had a comfy wide band, was long enough to prevent chaffing but not too long, and all of the pockets I could ever want. These are THE shorts. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny. I recommend them to everyone I know!

Finally, shorts that don’t ride up

I’ve been searching for running shorts that are shorter than 7 inches and don’t ride up. I’d almost given up, but these actually work!

So good I had to get more!

These shorts are the absolute bee’s knees. Every time I listened to the SWAP podcast, Janji, and often these shorts, were mentioned at least once. I finally gave in when I found these in my local running store. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to that inner voice, because these are the best shorts I’ve ever owned. The inside material with grip keeps the shorts in place for every run, including many 20 milers of late, and as an exceptionally sweaty runner who is very prone to chafing, I am beyond pleased to report that these absolutely are up to the job. The pockets are amazing, and the built in key ring is incredible. I’ve fit 8 gels between 25g-50g each in these shorts with no issue whatsoever. For reference, I am fairly muscular, with large upper thighs and large glutes, about 140 lbs and 5’4, and the small fit me perfectly.

I went ahead and bought a second pair, along with a few other pieces of gear from Janji, and I am hooked. I’ve always loved what this brand represented, but great to have gear of theirs that absolutely blows me out of the water. Made for performance through and through. I also had to exchange a pair of running shorts that I ordered for my husband, and the customer service was over the top incredible. I am officially a loyal customer.

Love!

Always looking for shorts in unique colors and was so happy to snag the high vis before my Garmin race in September! Fit is great, and I could carry my phone in my pocket without worrying if it would fall out! I’m 5’6” 129lbs, ordered xs and s but kept the small.

My FAVORITE running shorts!

Love these shorts!! The fit is great, soft fabric. The pockets are so deep and AMAZING. I can fit so many gels in there. They stay in place and don’t ride up at all. Obsessed with the deep blue color.

The best, but light colors show sweat a bit more

I have approximately six pairs of Janji pace shorts. I have both the 7 inch and the 5 inch now. I have been predominantly using the 7 inch shorts because I do tend to rub when I run. I was a little worried that the 5 inch short would be too short for my legs, but thankfully, the 5 inch hits in just the right spot that I’m still covered. The 4 inch short does not do the same for me. I tried them all and now I know the 5” is great. I got this bright green color because it matched with some of the spring release tops I own and I truly enjoy every other pair I own, too. The only problem is that the lighter colors definitely show sweat better. I don’t know if other people can see it from afar but I noticed it the first time with my lighter shorts. They all make a little noise when the fabric rubs against itself so if you run without headphones, you’ll hear that swish noise, (lol). Otherwise, I love these shorts more than other brands and keep buying them after trying others. These are the holy grail for us runners who chafe.

Not for bigger bodies :/

You can tell the materials are super high quality… which is why I was so sad to realize these weren’t for me.

I have a belly/muffin top and these just did not work for that. It would be compression on belly and hips but loose in between. And camel toe… lots of camel toe. I have lots of other running g shorts that don’t do this, so feels like it should be possible in an $80 short.

Anyways… I just don’t think they rework the cutting pattern for the larger sizes.

I gave a 2 because I think if you are a M or below they are very nice pants.

these are great, perfect length for me, don’t move around or slide up. Have had a few pairs that are still going strong after a few years.

FINALLY

I have spent 36 years of my life fixing my shorts on runs and other activities, and this is the FIRST pair that does not do that. I have athletic thighs that touch so there has always been chafing. These shorts have a grip on the inside of the thigh that keeps it from riding up and my god my run was so nice.
I’m 5’4, 140 pds, and wear a medium.

Perfect distance running shorts

Truly the best running shorts I've purchased. Worth the price. I have thick thighs and these are the only ones I am not constantly trying to reposition. Also, ZERO chafing. Other shorts I have, I use anti chafe and still chafe a bit. I live in South Florida and these can withstand the amount I sweat in the Florida heat and humidity.

Great short. Doesn't ride. Think I would feel better in the 7" since they are fitted.

Pros and Cons

I am on a mission to find the best running shorts, and these still aren’t quite it. That said, they were good enough to keep. For reference, I have an athletic build.

Pros: grip on the leg seams is very solid, no tugging in the groin area, pockets are plentiful.
Cons: waist digs in (I intentionally kept the larger size M so the waist didn’t dig in, but that means the rest of the fit is looser than I’d like), side pocket flaps are a little billowy, and this is probably just personal preference, but I don’t love the little hook on the inside of the pocket because it lays weird.

Great material, love the grip, awesome customer service

These shorts are great! I really like the material, and appreciate the rubber grip to prevent riding up (the main reason for my purchase). The deep pockets are such a bonus—I don’t worry about stuff falling out. They run a smidge on the tighter side (specifically in the waist), so I’d recommend sizing up; for reference, I’m 5’6” and 153 lbs, and the XL fits me best. This is where the customer service was great; the L was a bit too tight, and they promptly sent a larger size so they’d fit me more comfortably. Thanks, Janji team!

Good shorts

Very comfortable short, the only reason i wont give 5 stars is the side pocket entry is not easy to place your phone while running. The many positives: they make me feel compressed without any weird bulging! They don't ride up! They are a nice thin material that still offers support without the thickness/ heaviness. I will buy another pair even though the pocket is not my favorite.

Ran my first marathon in these and i was super happy with them. I really need some good biker shorts for running and wanted to give these a try after looking at so many different other brands. And I completely sold. Already told so many people about them.

Love them!

I bought mine at REI and had to come here to say how great these shorts are! They don’t move and are flattering on the stomach. I’ve worn these on all my long runs and plan to wear them on marathon day.

Actually a 12/10

Wore these for my long run a few days ago and they are *chefs kiss*. Didn’t budge on my thighs at all, so comfy, perfect amount of fuel pockets- one side even held my water bottle for a bit. Didn’t even notice them. Ran in the rain with 0 chafe. Will be using these for my marathon in 2 weeks. I did size up to a large while I am a medium in pretty much everything else- as an FYI! (I ordered mediums and large and the mediums were def a little too snug.) will be buying more!
