You either have boxer brief liners or separate liners altogether. I don't know how anybody runs in brief liners.

Super light and comfortable, but phone bounces in the back pocket

Shorts fit great, are super light and are very comfortable on long mountain runs. But a big reason for buying them was the supposed bounce-free / secure pocket in the back for a phone. Unfortunately the phone was noticeably bouncy and it became distracting during the run, so I ended up carrying it in a vest (which I was trying to avoid by buying these shorts). For that reason, these fell short, but I will still use them on phone-less runs or runs when I can carry the phone elsewhere.

Love the design and features.

I've been wearing Patagonia running short for many years, but the design changes they made ruined them. I like the zippered side pockets and the zippered rear pocket. This is essential for trail running and I'm glad I purchased two pairs.

NEED LINERLESS

Janji has the best running shorts in the world. Now they just need to remove the liner and they would be perfect. The liner causes big problems after you have been running a few hours.

Best short for trail/ultra running. Period.

These shorts are perfect for daily mileage for more serious trail runners. This is the only short with the perfect pocket setup: place for keys, place for gels, place for Pro Max size phone, pockets for gels, zip up pockets for when the run is over and don’t want things falling out of my pockets. I don’t know why these shorts don’t exist somewhere else. These replace a full belt of gear. Light fast drying fabric is amazing, reflectivity… these literally have it all. Waited 6 months for them to come back in stock and bought more immediately. People don’t get how much better these are than all other trail shorts. Janji is in first place for running gear bar none in 2026. Thank you Janji! Never stop making this short please! Maybe add colors? I love these!

7" AFO Middle Short Ultra

These shorts are really light weight, and breathable. The material is also stretchy, and is not restrictive at all. I also really enjoy the pocket system on these shorts. The phone pocket on the back is perfect, and the pocket on the front for keys is awesome as well. I highly recommend.
